(inan.info)-Dr. James Dobson and Jim Daly discuss the financial impact of divorce on society and Focus’ shortfall.
Dear Friends,
One of the cornerstones of Focus on the Family’s outreach over the past 31 years has been its effort to strengthen the institution of marriage. There’s no denying that when marriages break down, the spiritual, emotional and social consequences can be severe, not only for the families directly involved, but for the culture as a whole.
A study released last month highlighted one more disturbing aspect of divorce: the financial burden it places on society. On April 15 — tax day — the Institute for American Values, the Georgia Family Council, the Institute for Marriage and Public Policy, and Families Northwest released statistics showing the staggering annual taxpayer costs associated with divorce and unwed childbearing. Specifically, the report quantified a minimum $112 billion annual cost to citizens from high rates of divorce and unmarried childbearing. That translates into more than $1 trillion in

(inan.info)-(Tupelo, MS) - Forty-seven pro-family leaders have asked the Marriott chain of hotels to stop making porn movies available in their guest rooms.
In a letter dated April 3 to CEO John W. Marriott III, the leaders asked for a meeting with Marriott to discuss the issue. “The cosigners of this letter are leaders of some of the largest pro-family organizations in America. On behalf of these groups, a few of our principals would appreciate the opportunity to meet with representatives from Marriott to discuss this matter further.”
The group said pulling the movies would be in keeping with Marriott’s public statement of “promoting the well-being of children and families” and Marriott’s stated stance against “…such tragedies as human trafficking and the exploitation of children.” Marriott has approximately 2,800 hotels in the U.S., and about 2,400 of them have in-room porn movies.
According to Donald E. Wildmon, chairman of the American Family Association, Marriott has not responded to the request.
In addition to Wildmon, other leaders include Dr. James Dobson, chairman of Focus on the Family; Tony Perkins, president of Family Research Council; Dr. Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission; Bishop Harry Jackson, chairman of High Impact Leadership Council; and

(inan.info)-Colorado Springs, Co. – The Young Adults team at Focus on the Family recently launched “The Boundless Show,” the audio companion to the already popular Boundless webzine and Boundless Line blog for singles and young adults. The first ten episodes are now available online.
“The Boundless Show” is a magazine-format weekly podcast that releases a new episode each Friday afternoon. Its goal is to build a sense of community among young adults that is engaging and fun while simultaneously tackling important issues such as relationships, culture, worldview and faith. Hosted by Focus on the Family’s Lisa Anderson and featuring the unique perspectives of Boundless staffers Steve and Candice Watters, Motte Brown and Ted Slater plus a wide range of guests, “The Boundless Show” brings a much-needed voice to the interests and concerns of today's twenty- and thirtysomethings.
“We're always looking for ways to leverage new media to extend our outreach to young adults,” said Motte Brown, young adults manager and executive producer of “The Boundless Show.” “Online audio just seemed like a natural fit given Focus on Family's history of excellence in broadcasting. And we think we've landed on a format that is meaningful, entertaining and quite frankly ‘different’ from other Focus programming. So far, the feedback to the show has
